Writer

JC Niala writes in different forms because of her insatiable curiosity about the human narrative.

Her passion for unravelling the intricacies of human relationships led her to the world of theatre, where she found her voice in dialogue exploring the nuances of how people truly speak and what their interactions reveal about the human condition.

Driven by her fascination with history and its lessons, she also embraced writing for film, where the power of visuals became a canvas for her storytelling. Unlike theatre, film allowed her to foreground the potency of images.

Her poetic journey on the other hand, began as a heartfelt gesture, gifting poems to friends and family. This simple act blossomed into a passion for poetry, inspiring her to craft plays in verse and writing poems that went on to find homes in poetry journals.

Amidst her academic pursuits, her love for nature and lyrical expression found an outlet in nature writing. During her doctoral research in urban gardening, she found joy in capturing the beauty of the natural world and intertwining it with your scholarly endeavours.

As a Poet in the World, JC delves into myriad forms, crafting verses that resonate with the human soul. JC also works with poetry in her academic research and poetry commissions have taken her from residencies in London parks to The Royal Society of Arts.

JC exhibits a diverse range of interests and themes in her work, reflecting a multidimensional and multilingual approach to theatre making. She is interested in exploring complex human emotions, relationships, societal disparities and expectations.
